The Listening Advantage: Better Conversations, Better Business?

We spend a lot of time thinking about what we’re going to say — especially when it comes to pitching, presenting, negotiating or leading a team.

But good conversations are only half about speaking. The other half is listening.

For this betabreakfast, we’re joined by Samara Bentlin, Transformational Coach and Workshop Facilitator, for a practical session on what happens when we listen a little more deeply.

Drawing on her coaching experience and research into listening, Samara will unpack different levels of listening and explore why the way we listen can make such a difference in the conversations founders have every day — with customers, colleagues, investors, teams and each other.

And this won’t be a sit-and-listen kind of talk. You’ll get to reflect on your own listening style, try out different approaches and practise listening together.

So grab your Frühstück, bring your curiosity, and come explore what might change when we spend a little less time preparing our next response — and a little more time really listening.

Fancy doing something a little different after work?

Come join us for an evening of painting, wine (or Sprudelwasser) and good company.

For 90 minutes, you’ll be guided through a painting process that’s really about switching off and seeing what happens when you stop worrying about getting things “right”. No painting experience needed, no pressure to be artistic — just come along and give it a go. We know we will.

You’ll leave with a painting of your own — fridge-worthy, we’re sure. Afterwards, we’ll have a drink together and chat about what we noticed along the way. No critique, no judging, just a relaxed evening with the community.

All materials are provided. If you tend to get a little enthusiastic with the paint, wear something you don’t mind getting messy.

On 2 September, we’d love to bring everyone together for a relaxed community lunch, good conversations, and time to reconnect after summer.

We’ll share some updates from the team, give you a look at what’s coming next for betahaus, and talk a bit about the future of our community - including what’s ahead with our new home at Dockyard.

But most importantly, this lunch is about you: the people who make betahaus what it is. It’s a chance to catch up with familiar faces, meet other members, ask questions, and spend some time together outside of the usual workday.

Whether you’ve been part of the community for years or just recently joined, we’d love to have you there.

Space & Lemon Innovations are inviting the betahaus community over for their annual summer aperitivo — and we’re very happy to join them.

Come by after work, grab a slice of pizza, have a drink and catch up with people from around the house. It’s a nice chance to step away from your desk, meet someone you haven’t spoken to yet, and enjoy a slower evening together.
